Have been trying to reach someone (anyone!) at one of their many numbers to try and make a service appointment. Today is my third attempt. Today I hung on the line for 20 minutes. No one ever answers the phone. I tried one of the additional 800 numbers listed and no one answered that either. So much for "we care about your business."

Thank you Maytag customer service for an exceptional service to our Maytag Centennial top load washer . Everything went smoothly . The tech came & checked the problem & ordered the necessary parts needed. When the parts arrived, we set up a schedule & our washer got fixed . Washer is making a loud noise when spinning . Had to replaced the washer's transmission . Dino's appliance tech is very courteous & knowledgeable . Much appreciated . Maytag stand by their warranty .
I will be a loyal customer & will refer to families & friends . Appreciated by a retired military family .

February 2, 2018 - BEWARE MAYTAG WASHER. they now need a dedicated circuit to run properly and the consumer is not being told. the customer service departments will not tell until there is a problem. the washer needs a dedicated circuit... I want a refund and my machine is only 4 months old. BEWARE MAYTAG WASHERS. (customer service is rude and even the corp executive offices customer service is rude) They do not want to tell the consumer this information. When they changed from Regular detergent to High Efficiency EVERYONE found out, but when the washers need dedicated circuits they don't say anything. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. my washer does not run properly.
BE AWARE AND BEWARE.

I hate my new mMaytag washer: it has a rubber gasket at the front of the washer. When you lift it up, it contains 3/4 cup filthy dark water and dirt. If left, it stinks. I finally had the money to buy a Maytag and it is nasty.
Should it work like this? Diane Halverson

Official company reply

Like any appliance that uses water to do its job, you have the potential for odor, especially during the warmer months. To combat this, we recommended leaving the door open after use. This allows the drum to completely dry out with good air circulation. Additionally, we do recommend regularly using a Washer cleaner, like affresh® Washer Cleaner that help clean and deodorize the machine for you. Hopefully, you find these tips helpful. If not, you are welcome to email us at [email protected] with your name, phone number, address, model/serial number and date of purchase so we may do so. Please include a brief description of your concerns in your email.

I unfortunately have a Maytag WallOven Model CWE5800ACB which needs to be repaired with a new part #74001405 mfg by Whirlpool. It is no longer manufactured and I cannot find one anywhere.
Does this mean one has to trash his or her expensive double ovens because Whirlpool has opted to discontinue mfr of a part? If that be the case, we will never ever again spend good money on Whirlpool appliances!

Official company reply

Dear Lou:
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear of your Wall Oven concerns. At Maytag we continue to supply replacement parts until our stocks are exhausted either due to time of last production of an appliance, or because a vendor can no longer provide the part. Unfortunately, we do not have the part you are seeking in any of our warehouses. However, you may want to check with our parts distributor http://bit.ly/2CVvqQO to see if they are able to locate the part.

We had a brand new Maytag dishwasher (model no:MDB4949SDZ0). The soap dispenser would not work so we called in for a service call under warranty.

First technician arrives to confirm that it needs a new soap dispenser and orders the part.

Apparently they didn't believe me when I told them that the soap dispenser was not working but had to send a technician out (without the part) so that he could confirm that was the problem?!!

Two weeks later, he comes back (with the new part) and when he replaces it, we find that the person who assembled the dishwasher in the factory, put a piece of chewing gum on the back of the soap dispenser?!!

How did it pass QA before leaving the factory?? Apparently Maytag test each individual component separately but no-one bothers when all the parts are put together?!! So that's like putting 3 wheels on a car and the 4th wheel in the back seat....yep all the parts are working!!!

YES, that was just before sticking "proudly made in the useless eah" on the front of the dishwasher.

Did that fix the problem? NO

Did the person test it to see if the part replacement had fixed the problem? NO....but they did CLOSE the call as "COMPLETED"!!!!

We called in to tell Maytag that the problem was NOT FIXED only to be told the call has been closed as DONE....Completed.

The person we spoke to - Ashnita - did open another call to send out another technician to look at the "issue".

Second technician comes by a week later to see what was done. We tell him the history and he agrees that it does need to be fixed or the dishwasher replaced. He leaves and we hear nothing for a week. I called back to find out the latest and Ashnita tells me " ...2 new parts ordered .. a new circuit board and a new soap dispenser.... we'll call you when it arrives in to set up a service call".

Two weeks later I call them to ask what's happening? Oh the parts have JUST arrived...I'll call you back to arrange a service call. Doesn't happen...I have to call back to arrange a time.

The service tech FAILS TO SHOW up and so I call in again. Ashnita says I'll find out why and will call you back. She calls back to say "Oh he's had an accident ... so he didn't show". I ask "is it not common courtesy to call and let your customer know that you're not coming? ...and shouldn't he call in to the centre to let you know since you're the dispatch centre???"

Apparently not!

We arrange another time after 2 long frustrating calls.

This morning the tech shows up and replaces the 2 parts. I ask him to test it to make sure it works. he says "oh no I can't wait around for that...I'm here to replace the parts .. I've done that so that's my job completed. It's a warranty repair so it doesn't cost you anything to call in again"!!!

I say "isn't that a stupid process ...you're here now... instead of checking to see if you've fixed the problem, you want me to test it and then call you back if it doesn't work?! I've seen this done a number of times now ... why not see if it's working? Then I won't have to call you back and it will be fixed. You don't have any travel time.. you're here now "

he says "I'm offended because you're calling me stupid...or you're calling the process stupid and I'm part of the process."

CONSUMERS TAKE NOTE. NEVER BUY WHIRLPOOL or ANY OF IT'S ASSOCIATED BRANDS.... ANYTHING BUT APPLIANCES WITH THE STICKER saying "proudly made in the useless eah"

I purchased new Maytag kitchen appliances (Electric Range / Microwave / Dishwasher / Refrigerator). Within one year of ownership, I had to have the refrigerator compressor and evaporator replaced. The authorized Maytag service provider (At Your Door Appliance Service) was extremely difficult to deal with. They never returned calls and it took over a month for them to accomplish the repair. The refrigerator operates, but is very noisy and now has started to exhibit similar symptoms displayed just before the first failure. This compressor & evaporator replacement was done less than a year ago. I phones Maytag to request service under warranty and was informed that there is NO WARRANTY. However, they could schedule a service call and I could expect to pay more than $800 for another compressor. My owners manual states there is a 10 year limited warranty on the compressor, but does not cover labor. I have zero confidence in the reliability of the Maytag service and product. Rather than spend $800 or more every year, I am inclined to take the hit and replace this lemon of a refrigerator (which I paid over $2000 for when new)
I certainly will avoid Maytag and Whirlpool and will do more research before making a buying decision. The Maytag Reputation I relied on for the previous purchase is no longer valid. I suspect they will ultimately suffer loss of consumer confidence to the extent that the business will decline seriously.

I purchased a Bravo MVWB725BWo Washer with the matching drier October 2015. In February of 2016 the F51 Code was displaying. I call Maytag got a service call with much resistance. They replaced the the Baring and Drive moter. I do like how clean my clothes become.. October 2016 I had the same problem. Maytag offered to sell me the extended warranty. I was confused and explained the reason i spent so much money on Maytag products is so i didn't need an extended warranty. If i wanted to purchase an extended warranty i would have purchased a less expensive brand, then the warranty would be understandable. after about 1 hour they agreed to cover the repair. I did purchase the warranty, in the end. this mothers day weekend i have the same F51 error code.
Ultimately i would have to say, the Maytag commercials do frustrate me. this product is the opposite in durability and reliability that the commercial professes.
The fact that the Maytag service center explains that you should have purchased an extended warranty is rather insulting.

Official company reply

Hi Rebekah, we're very sorry to learn of your concerns with your Washer. Since youâre currently under an extended warranty you are contracted with that provider instead of Maytag Corporation (the manufacturer). If you would like, you are welcome to provide us the name of your extended warranty company and contact info and we will pass your information along to them on your behalf. Please email your address, model/serial number and phone number to us at [email protected]

I can not receive a warranty plan through the mail unless I give a credit card or bank car no. I've had a plan sibce I purchased my side/side maytag and want to keep a plan coverage.I spent $1900.00 on refrigerator and #700.00 on a Maytag gas stove. Needless to say I"ve had identity theft 3 times.I was told by the Idenity Theft people not to give this information out,or allow anyone to take money out of my accounts.I have lived thirty five year's at same address and worked 25 year's at same place till I retired.I am' offended. The plan I have will expire on Feb. 3,2017 This has taught me a memorable lesson

I purchased a Maytag electric range back in November 2013. When i bought the stove I also purchased a 3 year extended warranty through Sears. Unfortunately for me the heating element for the oven broke. I went to the store where i bought the range, and I was told to call the Maytag service dept. The heating element is covered under warranty which is great but I have to pay a service call and labor. The part costs around 70 dollars which Maytag covers and I have to pay around 170 dollars for service call and labor. The service kept on apoligizing for a range that I paid 800 dollars for that lasted a little more than three years. I decided to change the element myself but finding it impossible to find this heating element from any appliance part store. This tells me that part has been back ordered and many people are having the same problem. Not only do I have a big brand name that does not stand up for the junk they put there name on, I have a range I can't use for who knows how long.

We purchased a Maytag Washer and Dryer less than three years ago. We are a couple without kids or pets and on average run three loads per week. The dryer started making a clicking noise almost like when you are going up the incline on a roller coaster before the big drop. I called the Maytag Customer eXperience Center and reached someone in a reasonable amount of time. He was very pleasant to speak with and answered all my questions. Other than that it's almost a complete waste of time as I was quoted a $98.00 service fee to determine the issue. Then you have to pay for the parts and labor which is quoted from the technician. I asked Flamingo Factory Certified their hourly rate for repairs and was told they are not privileged to have that information, only the tech can quote the cost. I told her I was not asking for the complete cost without a diagnosis, I just wanted to have an idea of what it was going to cost hourly. Maytag gave me an option B which they call "Repair Plus One Plan" for $305.99 which includes the service call, parts and labor as well as one year additional warranty. Can anyone justify why a customer should pay the company that sold them an inferior product another few hundred dollars for a repair and one year warranty when you can buy a new dryer (NOT MAYTAG) for approximately $100 more and have a one year warranty from the manufacturer and one year from the credit card you use?

I purchased a Maytag Bravos washer and dryer on 5/30/16. A week before Thanksgiving the washer stopped working. It didn't move past the sensing, the washer would fill up with water then not advance to wash cycle. I contacted customer service and waited 3 weeks for a service appt. On Dec 9, 2016 the Whirlpool service tech replaced the lid lock and the machine was working again; for 2 weeks. I scheduled another service call and the earliest appointment was 12/30/16. At which time the same service repair man replaced the control panel and check the tub for leaking water. He ordered a new air hose. The was not working when he left. He followed up with a service call on 1/12/17 and replaced the air hose. The washer still does not advance beyond sensing. He was here for 1 1/2 hours. He spoke to his technical supervisor who told him the dryer electrical circuit was interfering with the washer. I have had my washer and dryer side by side for 36 years without incident. At that time the service tech Carlos told me the washer was non-repairable and would contact the company for a replacement washer. I spoke to Customer Service who advised me that I was not eligible for a new washer as I hadn't bought an extended warranty for the washer. In my 42 years of marriage I have not had another washer serviced. My previous Maytag Bravos washer lasted 14 years. There are only my husband and I now, so my wash loads are much smaller than they were when we had our 3 sons living home. I have had to go to the coin laundry twice a week since Thanksgiving. I have received and email and mail asking us to extend our warranty. I guess the replacement policy is that if I spend more money on an extended warranty, our lemon washer would be replaced. If it was a new car that had to be serviced 3 times for the same issue, we would be protected under the lemon law. I have a Maytag gas stove and dishwasher. I would not consider a Maytag appliance again. I hope this reaches the proper channels as going through customer service and the customer service supervisor Michael have not brought me any resolution to my non-working 6 month old Bravos washer

I bought a Maytag microwave a year and a half ago. After a few months my microwave was not working correctly, I had to keep opening and closing the door to get it to work. It was defective. They send someone to fix it.. They didn't, they send another repairman, again it wasn't fix, they send the same second repairman, it worked while he was here and so he said it was working. Again I called they send a third repairman. He couldn't fix it the first time or the second. He said he'd be back, but he never came... My warranty was over and the third repairman did something so now it stays on and I have to make sure I catch it, if not, it stayed on for a few hours before I caught it.. My microwave was defective from day one but they never fixed it or replaced it.. My refrigerator also doesn't work well, if I forget to check it, the door stays open. Very upset that they never fixed the problem and I'm stuck with a defective microwave!!!!

I have had my top loading washing machine for 1-2 years. It will not drain and spin the loads dry. Clothes now wind themselves around the agitator and have to be manually extracted. Trying to wash a blanket, towels or anything heavier than a blouse almost always takes two "drain and spin" cycles before it is dry enough to put in the dryer, which thankfully is not Maytag. I would rather pack up the washing and take it to a laundromat 10 miles away than use the washer.

For a person who is retired having a repair person is almost impossible because of their expense to just "look" at the appliance, let alone fix it.

I am extremely disappointed in what I always thought was a superior product and will not be recommending Maytag for anyone to purchase.

Runs - Don't walk away from Whirlpool/Matag Appliances....here's why

My 2 year old stainless steel Whirlpool Dishwasher recently stopped working. I paid $68 for a service tech to tell me that the problem was a "design defect" associated with moisture infusion into the control panel ribbon cable - a problem he sees frequently with the Whirlpool machines. He went on to say he it was a 10 minute fix and would only cost $275 You can imagine my dismay! I decided to call Customer Service. After more than 1 hour holding "for the next available representative", I was told there was nothing she could do as the machine was out of warranty. I pointed out that this was a design flaw, known to Matag and subject of a class action suit in California. She agreed to send a new control panel (at no charge) to a factory trained tech for installation if I would be willing to pay for the service call. I asked what the service call would be. Her reply was between $75 and $100. I was still very unhappy with this customer service experience, but agreed to have the "factory" tech come installed the board. Five days later, the tech shows up. Sure enough, he confirms the finding of the previous repairman. He looks at me an says, "For $250 I can have you fixed up in 15 minutes". I could not believe my ears. I recounted my conversation with Customer Service regarding the free board and nominal service call charge. He said he didn't know anything about that and Whirlpool obviously didn't have his labor rates. Needless to say, I asked the guy to leave immediately. I then went to a local appliance parts store, purchased the board for $168 and installed it myself in less than 10 minutes. Based on this experience, I have come to the conclusion that the brand name Whirlpool/Matag means absolutely nothing. Their products are unreliable and their customer service STINKS. Never again will I purchase one of their products

We purchased a Maytag MVWB725BW washer brand new 3-18-14 from Orvilles Appliances in Lancaster NY. We have used the afresh cleaner as required, never use fabric softener or more than the required detergent. We returned from a 2 week vacation this week to a foul smelling washer. We cycled afresh 5 times, used white vinegar on a hot cycle, rinsed, and the smell is still there. We have also tried baking soda and bleach on separate cycles in an attempt to remove this smell from our home and we can't just open the windows as it's winter here now. We have decided to replace the washer as we were told it would probably take a service technician to open the machine up and clean it. This is unacceptable to us as we have only had the machine for a little more than 2 years. We were not told of this design flaw when we bought the machine and are very frustrated that there isn't more help on how to remove the smell other than open the machine and physically clean it. It is now 5 days since we returned home and we are not any closer to resolving the issue than we were when we opened the door to this terrible smell. We are very disappointed in Maytag and the lack of help to resolve this matter.

I have a may tag washer. I have been a lifelong customer of Sears but their repair Technition are unreliable, change and cancel appointments without checking with customers.

I need help. My washer has been down for six weeks. Totally unacceptable.

I recommend you no longer allow Sears to represent your good name on repairs. They have lost their once good name and hire inept Technition who do not keep their word in Atlanta.

Please have a manager contact me at

I need to get this resolved.

IMy father raised me up to use Sears and buy American made Matag. I am extremely upset and simply wis yo get my washer tepsired. I have had the part for almost six weeks. Two Technition changed or cancelled appointments in Atlanta. Customer service is handled from the Philippines and Columbia Spith America. I need to speed to a service manager for Maytag in Atlanta.

My parents got my husband and me a Maytag washer and dryer June 26, 1960 for a wedding present. I've had three washers and my dryer went out tonight. A Sears employee told me some time ago that I should let the company know that and I did but haven't had a response. So, I'm letting you know tonight that it's gone! Thank You. Jean Williams, 2450 Wildcat Lane, sure would be good advertisement for Maytag!

My Maytag washing machine is the best money i have spent in a household appliance for a very long time. A close friend of mine is a white ware repair man, our washing machine had broken down and i asked him if he had any second hand washing machines for sale,he told me he had just done a minor repair on a Maytag washing machine and that in his 15 years of being a qualified whiteware and small machines mechanic had never worked on one as they are known in the industry to never break down. We jumped at the chance to buy it 4 years ago and have never looked back. We have 6 children and as you can imagine a whole bunch of laundry,,,, but my favourite thing is that it has no computer board and just does what you programne it to do. Thank you Maytag for producing a product that lasts the years and is reliable. Would never buy another brand.

I have always purchased Maytag washer and dryers and will continue to do so. I had an issue with my Maytag Performa dryer and it needed a new roller wheel. During the removal of the front cover I reached under the lip at the top of the cover to remove it and cut a finger on both hands one to the bone. I didn't slide my hand all I did was lift.
I have been a heavy jet mechanic for 42 years and as a group if we find a part that has a cut hazard we file that item down so no one gets cut.
I find it hard to believe that your quality control department would let your manufacturing department let something like this out the door, knowing that someone down the road would cut their selves .
I through this may have just been my unit but when I was talking to a repair man when I was picking up my part he said they are all that way.
My suggestion to you is take the extra few minutes to knock that edge down in your future dryers.
Thank You for making great products and this could just make them better.

I could not be more satisfied with the customer service team at Maytag. I had an issue with my brand new front load washing machine and the rep walked me through the steps needed to correct the problem. She was both friendly and patient. Needless to say that the issue was resolved without having to schedule service.

I have a Maytag Bravos washer that is almost 3 years old. I did not purchase an extended warranty so when it broke I expected to be on the hook for the full repair. I called Whirlpool to get a recommendation for service and to my surprise, they offered to send someone out to have a look at it at no charge! I had indicated that there was a burning smell so they said it was a safety issue and they would send someone the next day. Later that day, I got a call from my "Whirlpool rep" who gave me her name and DIRECT contact number. She said she would be following the case until it was fully resolved! A technician came the next day and identified the problem - several parts needed to be replaced. So, again, I thought I was in for a big repair bill. The next business day my Whirlpool rep called to ask how things went. She had not yet received a report from the technician so she wanted to know what he found. I read the report to her and she said that she would authorize coverage for the parts (5 in total) but apologized (!) that I would have to cover the labour. She suggested I call the repair people in 1 hour to give her time to forward the authorization to them. I did so, am now just waiting for the parts to come in and will be left with a bill for about $100!!! Amazing service from Maytag/Whirlpool.

we bought a Maytag single wall oven (along with a micro wave and dishwasher). The oven smelled every time we used it for weeks. The first time we self cleaned the oven blew itself out and the door was locked. Called Maytag, a service man came out and said we needed a part, due to Maytag putting it in the wrong place in the oven. All in all we were without the oven for 3 plus weeks. The second time we self cleaned the oven did the same thing, except it was smoking so much the smoke detectors went off and would not turn off, so we had to take the battery out for the night. It was Sunday, and I was beyond angry. My other appliances worked fine but the oven was awful. A different service man came out, said he had to order a part and it would be a week. Than I got hassled about warranty being expired, so I had to go to Home Depot to get a copy of the original sales slip. I was still in warranty. All this was on Monday, and I felt well a week is shorter than 3 weeks. Thursday I got a call from Joe Sparks from Maytag, in Michigan. He had seen my nasty letter I wrote when the oven broke again .At the end of our conversation about my oven issues he told me he was sending me a new oven and he was having ours sent back to see what had gone wrong. The process took a couple of weeks and we received the new oven, he had it installed free of charge and it had a new year long warranty, starting the day it was installed! I was so amazed that he was doing it for us, especially after reading some issues other people had. I want to say THANK YOU to Mr. Sparks and Maytag for the amazing service.

I have a Bravos machine that gets an F-1 code. Bought it in 2008. Called Maytag Headquarters (not the 800 # that dont work) which happens to be Whirlpool and they transferred me to customer service. To my shock they are covering the cost of repair and part replacement of the control board!!! I almost fell over! So call headquarters and voice your dissatisfaction. If your appliance has been listed as having issues (not isolated but wide spread product malfunctions) they will cover the cost! Good luck to all

The last time I used Maytag (Whirpool) Customer Service was a nightmare. A&E Customer Service took 2 months and several calls to do nothing. Maytag finally called another company.
Today I called them again with entirely different results. The repair company was here within 2 hours doing a diagnostics. Within 5 minutes he knew what was wrong, called it into Maytag and they authorized the entire repair under warranty since the problem was the same as last time.
I have gained a huge amount of respect for Maytag. Thank you to their Customer Service rep in Tennessee.

Customer Service for my washing machine was FANTASTIC; however, the washer is still the worse on the market. Do not buy a Maytag washer.

After a very frustrating experience with a refrigerator less than a year old with issues and customer service reps who were rude. I am happy to report that Melanie helped me get my issue fixed. She understands your concerns and works with you, unlike my previous experience. Thanks Melanie for your help and for anyone out there that is having issues with your products contact her when she responds to your complaint.

I bought a top loading Maytag washer in December 2009 for $1100 at Sears, now it's November 2011, my washer went dead during wash. At first, I thought there was power disconnection so I had electrician came to check and he confirmed the power to the washer is good, it's the washer went bad. I called Sears, they said I have no extend warranty when purchased it and now they offer an extend warranty for $719 for 12 months. That is my first Maytag product and it also be my last. I used to have a GE washer and it last me for 10 years.

I have shopped at the Maytag store on Est and Orange Show Rd. in San Bernardino, California many times. I am always met with a warm smile and such helpful advice. I own all maytag appliances in my kitchen and have never had any problems so far. I love Maytag and I won't shop anywhere else.

I own one of the Maytag dishwashers that was included in the recall for a faulty heating element (which I had no problems with). When I went on line I discovered that M&M Appliance in Boynton Beach, FL was one of my options to schedule an appointment for replacement of the recalled part. I was relieved as I have purchased an oven & refrigerator from M&M and have been so appreciative for the assistance in choosing an appliance and for being so helpful with any follow-up service & questions.
Mike from M&M came as scheduled and not only replaced the recalled part but went way beyond the required service and replaced old copper tubing that was no longer flexible enough to reconnect without potenial leakage. He took the time to replace the tubing, at no cost to me. Mike never suggested the possibility that the tubing should have been replaced when the dishwasher was installed, nor asked who installed the dishwasher. However, I believe if the company that installed the dishwasher practiced the quality of service M&M provides the tubing would have been replaced upon installation. Maytag should be very proud and appreciate the quality of service provided by M&M Appliance.
I believe that M&M should receive some accommodation for their wonderful attitude towards customer service.
