Terrible tech support. We have a domain registered with Dotster that redirects to our website host and our email host. After three days of trying to make a change to redirect our website, they were still unable to do it. I spoke to numerous people in tech support, and each person changed some error done by a predecessor and was eager to get rid of me. In the meantime, they pointed us to a competitor's website and refused to admit that the problem was on their end. No accountability. Inexperienced personnel. Not friendly. Long hold times. The list goes on and on . . . .

I have been with Dotster for many years. This year one of my domains was due to expire and I decided to let it do so. I confirmed it was set to manual renew, as you can't remove the credit card info you give Dotster. Then I got a notice that they automatically renewed my domain. I confirmed again it was set to manual renewal and contacted them, requesting a refund. They stated the domain was set to automatically renew and they would not process a refund. Then they said they had set it to manual renewal so this wouldn't happen in the future, even though it was already set to manual renewal.

Look for someone else - there are too many companies out there to waste your time working with one that isn't ethical or reliable.

Terrible web tools, terrible operations, terrible support.

- I cannot update my Subdomain records - an acknowledged bug for 10+ weeks now.
- I cannot add SRV records to my domain without support
- I was not able to update DNS records without errors
- When changing the administration UI, they changed my MX configuration to values 3-4 years earlier. No explanation and the lost email was lost business.
- Custom support often takes over 72 hours to perform simple tasks. They close tickets that are not resolved.

Stay away, I am transferring.

Had ongoing problems with my email forwarding after Dotster took over RegisterNames. Now they want me to pay a $100 "redemption fee" for an expired domain. They never sent me a renewal notice. But they refuse to admit fault. HELP! Can anyone advise on ability to transfer to another service?

Dotster has been the worst experience imaginable. Dotster has held my domain names hostage for months. They have not fixed incorrect information and they have put my domains on sister site mydomain without telling me. I have lost count of the trouble tickets - tech support doesn't read more than the first line of them and repeats and repeats the same problem. I can't gain access to my domains and they tell me to be patient, it might get fixed by June when they are up for renewal- really

Posted by Lowry is by far the worst webhosting provider I have encountered in my professional carrier. They are unreliable and unable to fix issues that are ultimately caused by their own inadequate platforms. I would not recommend this service to my worst enemy.

I've had 3 of my websites go down with Dotster... and all content has been erased! I call them and wait on hold for one hour and they don't pick up... i email through their support and they don't respond. I'm immediately changing host companies and i suggest nobody does business with these guys! GARBAGE company! So upset right now...

Apparently, this company is so bad, they can't get clients the legitimate way, so they've taken to trolling for expiring domains and emailing administrators "renewal notices," which are meant to trick the admins into switching to I guess it's not illegal, but it is underhanded. I would never do business with this kind of sleaze.

the worst customer service experience i've ever had in my life; on the phone for hours, awaiting managers to escalate only to end up with no result. website was initially down after they "provisioned" the site and then claim it never happened and insisted it was a change on the development side. we want to take them to court as our site has been down for MONTHS now - and can't figure out where to do it (the old terms of use quote washington and the new one refers to boston). NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!

I can not for the life of believe that a company in this day and age do not have available support or any contact details for e-mail. I am in the UK an they only have a US Number which is only contactable in hours relative to the time difference also.

Shocking, will never use Dotster again!

To sum it all up in one word...Clueless. I have been dealing with an email rejection issue for nearly a month and still no resolution. Cases are not handled. When phoning, the wait is intolerable, and when you do finally reach someone, they are unskilled and unknowing. Stay away from Dotster.

Dotster is the worst


Site was down for a whole weekend, when it came back up it was the wrong config information so I had to set up everything again. No reason for this, just happened.

Wanted to make a complaint but no email, contact support or complaint procedure. The telephone numbers given to me didn't work.

This company is a joke. I pay money for this! I will be cancelling my account these guys are idiots

I am not surprised by prevalence of negative comments. I lost my files that Dotster had an obligation to store. Their customer service was helpless and I had to go through any single webpage restoring broken links and fixing the scripts. It was a two-week hell and I would not wish anybody to have same experience.

I am not sure that Dotster customer support is good enough. (1) The company did not notify me before they blocked my free account. (2) They also instantly blocked my access to files and did not give me a chance to retrieve them. (3) E-mail of the customer support is not accessible. (4) The login page for free services is not working.

The most unprofessional, old fashioned, incompetent company I have ever dealt with. Customer service is non existent. This company shouldn't even be in business.

You loose two years worth of emails and data and will only reimburse for one year. Your responsibility, your error, your fault, and your responsibility to take care of your loyal customers. I am very unsatisfied with the resolution of loosing two years worth of data etc for myself and my husband's email. This amounts to over $400 we paid for email service and your company will only reimburse for one year.

I am very disappointed in the Customer Service support. A company that holds your domain name should be able to help you 24/7 as stated on the Web site. I turns out there are people that answer the phone but do not have authority to help you solve your problem.

You have to wait until business hours. I did call during business hours except that they did not finish the transaction as I thought they would.

2011 How sad to run business this way!

The customer support at Dotster is fantastic. They offer 24 hr support which is very rare in the industry now. Best support for a web service I have ever experienced!! There will always be special issues that can take time to resolve, but I feel they do their best to fix my issues.
